Two Minute Drill Game: Call the Final Drive
Play the free two minute drill game in your browser. Take over a real NFL fourth quarter, read the clock, call every play and try to win it before time runs out.
How to play the two minute drill game
Each two minute drill game starts from a real late-game moment from the 2023 to 2025 NFL seasons: the true score, the real clock, the actual down and distance, and both teams' timeouts.
Read the moment
Check the score, the clock, the down, the distance and the field position. The scoreboard tells you what you need: a touchdown, a field goal, or just time off the clock.
Call the play
Pick a run, pass, RPO or trick play, set your tempo and use timeouts. On defense you choose the coverage. The simulation samples every snap from real NFL plays.
Own the finish
Win the drive. After each call the coach review shows how it compares with the best option, so each drive helps you judge both risk and clock management.
Choose your two minute drill game mode
Daily Drill
One situation per day, the same for every player. The Daily Drill resets at 00:00 UTC, so you can compare calls with friends.
Survivor
Chain random situations. Win to keep going, lose or tie and the run is over. How long can your winning streak last?
Practice
Pick a comeback, a tie-breaker or a defensive stand and replay it as often as you like. The result screen also lets you retry the same opening and seed.
Practice real two minute drill game decisions
Real situations
Each opening comes from NFL play-by-play data, including the score, field position, clock and available timeouts.
A real clock
Tempo, timeouts, the two-minute warning, sideline throws, spikes and kneel-downs all matter. Hurry, normal and milk burn different amounts of time before the snap.
Offense and defense
Drive the field when you have the ball, then call the coverage when the other team does. You coach both sides of the ball.
Honest coach review
The game replays the rest of the drive hundreds of times for each option. Separate the quality of your decision from whether that particular play worked.
See your call on the field
The two minute drill game keeps the score, the playbook and the last result close together. These sample-drive screenshots show the controls you can use to understand a play, then make your next decision.

Pick a call and target
Select a play card to preview a route. Tap a player to inspect their position and, on a pass, choose the corresponding target lane. Orange marks your team and blue marks the opponent; the yellow line shows the next first down.

Keep the clock in view
On a phone, scroll the cards while the scoreboard stays visible. Hurry, Normal and Milk control pre-snap runoff. Check the clock warning before committing to a slow call with only a few seconds left.

Review, replay and improve
Replay repeats the animation without changing the result. A green or red percentage-point badge shows how modeled win chance moved. The coach grade separately compares the decision with other available calls, so a loss on one snap does not automatically mean a bad choice.
Sound and animation controls
Turn on the speaker button for short cues when you snap, score or lose possession. Sound starts muted and can be switched off at any time. Pause, skip or slow the illustrative animation using the controls above the field. Reduced-motion browser preferences shorten the visual sequence.
Leave and continue later
Your latest submitted call is saved locally. Reopen the same mode and choose Resume drive to continue with the same state and random sequence. This works separately for Daily, Practice and Survivor. Saves need browser storage, stay on this device and can be invalidated by a game-data update.

Two minute drill game playbook
Choose from 20 offensive plays, six defensive coverages and situational kicking or clock plays. Each card shows its risk and reward so you can match the call to the situation.
| Group | Calls | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Run | Inside run, Outside run, Draw play, QB sneak, QB keeper | Steady yards, low risk, the clock keeps moving. Sneak is only for short yardage. |
| Pass | Quick slants, Curl and hitch, Sideline outs, Mesh crossers, Screen pass, Dig route, Play action, Deep post, Go route, Hail Mary | From safe short throws to big plays. Outs help stop the clock. Hail Mary is a last-second prayer. |
| RPO | Slant RPO, Bubble RPO | Run or pass, decided by what the defense shows. |
| Trick | Flea flicker, Reverse, Fake spike | High risk, high ceiling. Best when a normal call will not get there. |
| Kicks and clock | Field goal, Punt, Spike, Take a knee | Score, flip the field, stop the clock or burn it. |
| Defense | Cover 3, Cover 2, Man press, All-out blitz, Prevent, Run stuff | Balance run and pass, protect the deep ball, or send everyone. |
An NFL 2 minute drill you can finish in minutes
A two minute drill game is about making good decisions with limited football time, not racing a timer on your device. The clock advances when you submit a call, so you can pause to study the options. Some historical scenarios begin with more than two minutes remaining. A full session may take several minutes, especially if the opponent gets the ball back or the game goes to overtime.

Three useful two minute drill game exercises
Use the two minute drill game as a decision exercise: choose one thing to improve, finish a drive, then use Retry this scenario to compare your approach.
Save one more snap
Pick a comeback in Practice. After an in-bounds gain, compare Hurry with Normal before your next call. The difference is 17 seconds of pre-snap runoff when the clock is running. Notice whether a timeout or a sideline target would leave room for another attempt.
Protect a small lead
Choose Protect the lead and count the opponent's remaining timeouts. A first down can be more useful than a risky deep throw. Test a run or a knee, then review whether the remaining downs and time were enough to keep possession until the finish.
Judge the call separately
On the result screen, compare the coach grade with the win-chance change. A well-chosen pass can still be intercepted. Replaying the animation leaves that result unchanged; retrying in Practice lets you test another decision from the same opening.
The two minute drill game cannot account for every injury, penalty or adjustment a real coach sees. Its useful feedback is the comparison between available choices in this model. Read how the simulation works before treating a percentage as a prediction.
Two minute drill game FAQ
What is the two minute drill game?
The two minute drill game is a free football strategy game. Take over a real late-game NFL situation, call offensive or defensive plays, manage the clock and try to finish ahead on the scoreboard. You make coaching decisions rather than steering a player with a joystick.
Is the two minute drill game free to play online?
Yes. Daily, Survivor and Practice are free in your browser, with no account or download. Completed results and unfinished drives are saved on this device when browser storage is available. Ranked results use a random player ID and the display name you choose.
Is this two minute drill game an official NFL product?
No. This is an independent fan project, not made by or connected to the NFL, its teams, ESPN or the old television quiz show. Team and player names identify historical games. The simulation is for entertainment and is not a complete NFL rules reference.
Does it use real NFL data?
Yes. The opening score, time, down, distance, field position and timeouts come from 754 situations in the 2023 to 2025 NFL seasons. Outcomes are sampled from 35,435 real plays and adjusted by the model. The animation illustrates the simulated result; it is not footage of the original game.
When does the daily two minute drill game reset?
A new Daily Drill appears at 00:00 UTC. The date determines the situation and random seed for everyone. Your first completed Daily result counts for ranking. The menu links to up to seven previous days, starting from the launch date, as unranked replays.
Can I play the two minute drill game on my phone?
Yes. Use the same website on your phone, tablet or computer. On a narrow screen the scoreboard stays visible while you scroll through the playbook, and the snap controls stay near the bottom. Use your browser in portrait mode if the cards feel crowded.
How is the two minute drill game coach score calculated?
Before resolving each call, the game simulates hundreds of finishes for the available options and compares your choice with the best estimate. Your coach score summarizes those decision gaps. The change in win chance after the snap describes the outcome, so a good call can still have a bad result.
How is the two minute drill game leaderboard ranked?
Only your first completed Daily attempt per UTC day counts. Wins rank above ties and losses, then margin, fewer recorded calls and finish time break ties. Survivor ranks your best winning streak. The server reproduces your inputs before accepting a score. If it is temporarily unreachable, completed ranked results wait on your device for another submission attempt.
Does the two minute drill game save if I refresh?
Yes, when local storage is available. Return to the same mode and choose Resume drive to restore its last recorded call, score and clock. Daily, Practice and Survivor keep separate unfinished drives. Clearing site data removes them; they do not sync across devices, and an incompatible game-data update can invalidate an old save. Starting a new game in that mode replaces its unfinished drive.
How do I turn on sound or replay the last play?
Use the speaker button beside the game title. Sound starts muted, and your choice is remembered on this device. Replay shows the previous snap without changing its outcome or your grade. Pause, Skip and the 1× or 0.5× control affect the illustration, not the simulation or game clock.
What happens when I tap a player?
You can inspect the displayed name, number, position and team. During an eligible pass call, an offensive receiver offers a target button for the left, middle or right lane. This version selects a lane; it does not let you edit every individual route or rate players by ability.
Why does the clock say running while the numbers stay still?
Decisions are turn based. You can read the field without a real-time countdown. When the clock state is running, the chosen tempo removes 7, 24 or 38 seconds before the next snap, then the play takes additional time. A timeout removes that pre-snap runoff; a spike stops the clock at the cost of a down.
Can I retry a two minute drill game with different calls?
Yes. On the result screen, Retry this scenario starts an unranked Practice attempt with the same opening and seed. Change your calls to explore other choices. Play another scenario draws a new situation. Neither practice option changes a completed Daily ranking or a Survivor streak.
What if the game does not load or my result will not copy?
Check your connection and allow JavaScript, then reload. Let the play data finish loading before starting a drive. If browser clipboard access is unavailable, Copy result opens selectable text instead. A leaderboard outage does not prevent local play; private browsing or blocked storage may prevent saves from surviving a refresh.
Where is the NFL 2 minute drill arcade manual?
The physical football-throwing arcade cabinet is a separate product made by ICE. Use the manufacturer or distributor service manual for its controls, ticket settings and troubleshooting. Our arcade guide links to those resources; the browser game on this page does not control or repair an arcade machine.
Is this the ESPN 2-Minute Drill quiz or Krillion?
No. The ESPN title was a sports-trivia television show, while Krillion is a separate daily trivia website. Here you call football plays. Use the related guides below to distinguish the similarly named games before looking for manuals, show episodes or trivia answers.
What are the two minute drill game keyboard shortcuts?
Press 1 to 9 to select a visible call, left or right arrows to change category, H/N/M to choose tempo and T to toggle a timeout. Enter or Space snaps when focus is outside another button. You can also tab through the controls and activate focused buttons normally.
What happens when the score is tied at zero on the game clock?
The two minute drill game uses simplified overtime: a ten-minute period and two timeouts per team. A touchdown wins immediately; an opening field goal gives the other team a chance to answer. After both possessions, the next score wins. This differs from current NFL overtime rules, and an unresolved overtime can end tied.
